Tariffs on Vietnam. What tariffs?

The Trump Organization's recent $1.5 billion investment in a luxury golf and hotel complex in Vietnam appears to intersect with ongoing U.S.-Vietnam trade tensions, particularly concerning tariffs.

In March 2025, the Trump Organization announced a partnership with Vietnamese developer Kinh Bac City to develop a large-scale resort in Hung Yen province, near Hanoi. This project includes two 54-hole golf courses, hotels, and residential areas, with construction slated to begin in May 2025.

This investment comes amid heightened trade tensions between the U.S. and Vietnam. The Trump administration has imposed a 46% tariff on Vietnamese exports, which has been temporarily paused until July. This uncertainty has led to operational challenges for Vietnamese exporters, with some companies adjusting production schedules and facing postponed or canceled orders. Reuters

Vietnam has been actively seeking to mitigate these tensions by pledging to increase imports from the U.S. and reduce trade barriers. Additionally, the country has allowed Elon Musk’s Starlink to operate through a pilot program, maintaining Vietnamese control of its local entity. EconoTimes

The timing and nature of the Trump Organization's investment raise questions about potential conflicts of interest, especially given President Trump's dual role as a business leader and head of state. Critics argue that such ventures could influence U.S. foreign policy decisions, particularly if they align with personal business interests. The Diplomat

In summary, while the Trump Organization's investment in Vietnam's tourism sector may be a strategic business move, it also coincides with efforts to navigate complex trade relations between the two countries.

In politics, they will say this is a conflict of interest. IN real terms, He's selling out on America for his own personal gain.

I will gladly say that this sort of thing happens alot in politics. this doesn't mean any one party is to blame...HOWEVER, the real issue is, he's doing it in plain sight and nobody does anything about it. Ever wonder why there are no revolutions in countries that have dictators? Look in the mirror sometime. We are our own worst enemy.
